CEO, Visiting Nurse Association of the Inland Counties (retired)
Lynn Campbell was widowed in 2009 when her husband Gary of 39 years died of cancer. Gary died at home on hospice with his loving family around him. Lynn attended a support groups but it did not meet her needs and she found herself just getting by. It was the death of her daughter’s husband, Vincent Moore, one year later that brought her to Camp Widow and Soaring Spirits International. Daughter, Mary Moore Hughes said, “Mom I have heard about this Camp Widow program in San Diego and I want to go—come with me and see what this is about”. Lynn joined Mary at Camp Widow and now they regularly participate in Camp Widow programs.
Lynn is the retired in 2011 as Chief Executive Officer of a large not-for-profit home health and hospice program, The Visiting Nurse Association of the Inland Counties in Riverside California. Lynn was privileged to work with this wonderful organization for over 33 years developing and growing the organization to over 1000 employees in nine offices The VNA provided home health and hospice services to thousands of people in need, in their homes throughout Riverside and San Bernardino Counties annually. Lynn is especially proud of the children’s bereavement program that was developed to support the children of the hospice patients for many years after the death of their parent.
Lynn has both a bachelors and masters degree in nursing with an emphasis on administration and is pleased to offer the skills of strategic planning, board development, corporate structuring and grant development to SSI.
It is very satisfying to be able use life long skills in non-profit management to support Soaring Spirits International as it continues to grow and support millions of people who have lost their life partner. This is a fantastic way to celebrate life and retirement working with an organization that just gets it.
