Janine Eggers was raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma where she met her first love and future husband during their Junior year at Oklahoma State University (go Cowboys!). She has worked in the legal field, and later as a stay at home mom raising six children. She has been an active volunteer in the Tulsa community; has taught the Suzuki method of piano to children; volunteered at her children’s schools and in her church; has been very active with the local MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) group in her community serving as Coordinator and Mentor Mom. Janine has served on staff at her church in the areas of Women’s Ministry, Missions and, after becoming a widow, Care Ministries. Her husband Jim died suddenly of an aortic dissection the week before Christmas in 2007, six months before what would have been their 25th anniversary. Since that time Janine has been learning to live in her “after”. She started a blog 3 months before Jim’s death, which went from a humorous journal about raising 6 children, to a gut-wrenching, truth- baring story of her journey on the path of widowhood. She’s glad to report that the humor came back. Janine’s passion is now for serving other widowed people through the formation of a group she calls “the Circle,” and through her work with SSLF. In her spare time, Janine enjoys writing, encouraging others through public speaking, playing on two tennis teams, time with her children, “girl time” with her friends, reading, and escaping to the local movie theatre/live theatre when she can. She also lives with the firm knowledge that if she can survive raising 6 teenagers and becoming a widow, she can survive anything.
