Michelle Dippel Dahlberg grew up in South Austin, attending Crockett High School and the University of Texas at Austin. She has been an environmental planner for 20 years and leads transportation environmental services for HDR Engineering for the South Central Region (Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Arkansas) based in Austin, Texas.
Michelle has served on the Soaring Spirits International Board of Directors since 2008 and has also served on the Board of the Heart of Texas Chapter of the Women in Transportation Seminar. Michelle has served on various commissions for the City of Buda, the City of Fort Worth, and is a graduate of the Leadership Austin 2007 class. She also volunteers annually as a judge for the Austin Energy regional science fair and captains a Relay for Life team each year.
Michelle’s interest in founding Soaring Spirits originated in her own experiences as a widow - her first husband Daniel died from throat cancer in 2005 - and her desire to make the tragedy of dealing with grief and loss more manageable and less lonely for others. Michelle remarried in 2012 and lives in Austin, Texas with her husband Carl and kids, Grayson and Kenna.
“We gain strength, and courage, and confidence by each experience in which we really stop to look fear in the face…we must do that which we think we cannot.” – Eleanor Roosevelt
